The Girl Scouts have fans in high places. So many celeb parents are proud Girl Scout cookie enthusiasts — whether they have a child in a troop or not. Girl Scout cookies are the great equalizer. Everyone loves them, even fancy A-listers who probably have private chefs at home and eat at five-star restaurants all the time.
Every celebrity has their own favorite flavor of cookie, with many debating Caramel deLites vs. Thin Mints — one of the oldest Girl Scout battles. But they can all agree on one thing, these cookies are the best. Plus, since buying cookies helps out a bunch of entrepreneurial young women, they tend to go overboard with the cookie purchases. We can't blame them.
Here's a yummy round-up of a bunch of famous fans of the GS cookies. These parents are setting a great example for their children: Support the Girl Scout troops and get a sweet treat out of the deal.
Jennifer Garner
There is perhaps no celebrity who is more passionate about Girl Scout cookies than Jennifer Garner. She's been known to shill them outside grocery stores to help out her kids' troops. But when she heard that not everyone's local markets had Girl Scout cookie stands, she resolved to help people out by mailing them boxes. "We understand the primal need for Girl Scout cookies," she wrote on her video explaining how she planned to send the boxes out.
Reese Witherspoon
On Instagram, Reese revealed she's "#TeamThinMints" when it comes to her favorite cookie. But the actual snack is just a bonus for her. She's most interested in getting to help the scouts with her purchase. She captioned her Thin Mint boomerang, "Just doing my part to support the dreams of young female entrepreneurs."
Chris Rock
During the 2016 Oscars, host Chris Rock asked the celebs in attendance to help out his daughters' Girl Scout troop in exchange for cookies. He ended up raising $65,423, and a ton of hungry A-listers got to chow down during the ceremony. Who knew stars actually carried cash on them for times like these?
Kate Winslet
Leonardo DiCaprio's not the only Titanic star who was all about the cookies during the 2016 Oscars. Kate Winslet was seen intensely studying a box of what appear to be Tagalongs. Maybe she was hoping to learn the ingredients to replicate the recipe at home? Too bad homemade is never quite the same when it comes to Girl Scout cookies.
Mindy Kaling
The Office star got her hands on a box of Caramel deLites, thanks to fellow Oscars attendee Olivia Wilde — who must have had the cash in this situation. By the time Mindy took this photo, a significant amount of the cookies were gone, so her row was clearly having a fun little feast during the ceremony.
Justin Timberlake
Justin started an all-out battle in his Instagram comments when he posed this question: "Samoas vs Thin Mints… FOOD FOR THOUGHT. Double tap for DOUBLE SAMOAS. Comment for Thin Mints." For his part, Justin is a Samoas fan. But that didn't stop Thin Mints lovers from flooding his comments, defending their cookie of choice.
Jimmy Fallon
In 2017, Jimmy Fallon invited 15-year-old Girl Scout Katie Francis on The Tonight Show to sell her record-breaking 100,106th box of cookies to none other than Jimmy Fallon himself. He ended up deciding between Thin Mints and Samoas and went with the Samoas. Justin Timberlake would be proud.
Chrissy Teigen
To be fair, Chrissy is not actually a Girl Scout cookies fan as much as she is a Girl Scouts fan. She recently did a ranking of all the flavors and said she hated them all, but that she was fine with buying them to help out. "Happy to support. HAPPY. But Iโm not doing it for the cookie okay," she wrote on Twitter. Later she added that if no other cookies in the world existed, she wouldn't mind eating Samoas and frozen Thin Mints.
Sylvester Stallone
Chris Rock's daughters' Girl Scouts troop also scored some cash from Rocky star Sylvester Stallone at the 2016 Oscars. He later posed for a photo with his two boxes of Trefoils and Savannah Smiles. Definitely some controversial cookie choices, but, hey, people love what they love.
Christian Bale
At the same Oscars event, Batman actor Christian Bale was spotted absolutely devouring a box of Thin Mints. There's no food served at the Academy Awards, so he was probably starving and also who can turn down a box of Thin Mints? It may have been the highlight of the ceremony for him.
Tom Hanks
Using his star power for good! A few years ago, Tom Hanks stopped by a local cookie sale to purchase some boxes for himself, and then he also joined in to help sell more boxes to passing strangers. It would be hard to turn Tom Hanks down, so we imagine he helped them sell quite a bit.
Angela Kinsey
Most people know about the trick of putting Thin Mints in the freezer and enjoying them cold, but The Office star Angela Kinsey also puts her Girl Scout S'mores cookies in the freezer. "You're welcome. Yummm," she wrote on Twitter when she shared her cookie tip. Come to think of it, most of the Girl Scout cookies would probably taste even better frozen.
Morgan Freeman
One of the absolute highlights of Chris Rock's cookie selling at the 2016 Oscars was the time that Morgan Freeman stole some of his Trefoils. As Buzzfeed captured in a series of photos, Chris was on stage with an open sleeve of cookies speaking to the audience, when Morgan came up behind him and just dove into it. The ol' cookie sneak attack.
Andrea Barber
Last year, Full House star Andrea Barber was the cookie coordinator for her daughter's troop, which means that the big delivery of cookies came to her house to then be sold. She ended up with almost 2,0000 boxes and she vlogged about the whole thing. Now that's one supportive Girl Scout mama!
Jason Momoa
When one clever Girl Scout started re-branding Samoas as "Momoas" in honor of actor Jason Momoa, he revealed that he's a big fan of the tasty snacks. However, Samoas aren't his favorite kind. He prefers the shortbread cookies (Trefoils), which he then puts in the freezer to enjoy as a frozen treat.
Julianne Moore
Julianne Moore happily forked over cash to Chris Rock at the Oscars to score some Girl Scout cookies. We don't know which kind she snagged, but the two scouts nearby had Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs, so she had quite the variety to choose from. And anything to support the GS troops, right?
Alyson Hannigan
This February, How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan hosted a very special cooking challenge show for the Food Network. The Girl Scout Cookie Championship featured contestants elevating the classic cookies into crazy edible art. Alyson is a former Girl Scout herself, so this was very full circle for her.
Kiefer Sutherland
Fun fact: 13-year-old actress Mckenna Grace recently starred in Troop Zero, an Amazon Prime movie about a misfit group of scouts. She has experience in the scouts, since she once sold Girl Scout cookies on the set of Designated Survivor. She said she got her co-star Kiefer Sutherland to buy 40 boxes from her.
*Honorable Mention* Milo Ventimiglia
Technically, Milo's not a parent … but he does play a dad on This Is Us, and he bought some cookies from his on-screen daughter Mackenzie Hancsicsak's troop a couple of years ago to support her. He also supported the troops by buying some boxes for our military. Looks like Do-Si-Dos are his cookie of choice.
