Whether you're planning your own dream baby shower or you're planning one for a friend, it can sometimes be tough to come up with Instagram-worthy ideas that aren't super overdone or super expensive. Fortunately, you don't have to think of everything off the top of your head or spend hours on Pinterest to build the perfect party. You can follow the lead of these celebrity baby showers.
From fun decorations and themes to delicious desserts, these stars certainly knew what they were doing. But you don't need their deep pockets to copy their ideas. Some of these A-list-approved events were catered by McDonald's or had a pajama dress code. Just because celebs are rich doesn't mean they have to splurge on everything. And that works out well for us, because we can just scroll through to see what strikes our fancy for our own big days.
Food People Actually Wanna Eat
Ahead of giving birth to daughter Luna, Chrissy Teigen had a baby shower thrown by Kim Kardashian — which is honestly amazing in and of itself. But then we learned that the lunch was catered by McDonald's. Many people would rather have fries and chicken nuggets than fancy hors d'oeuvres, so this was a big hit.
"Thank u @chrissyteigen for making us all feel normal!!! Dream lunch!!" guest Erin Andrews wrote on Instagram.
Comfy Dress Code
For Kim Kardashian's own baby shower before having her son Saint, she kept things low-key with a pajama party theme. Usually the Kardashians get all glammed up for events, so it must have been fun to dress casual. Kylie Jenner later copied the theme for her own baby shower, and it was just as much of a hit.
Have a Photo Booth
The Kardashians love a photo booth, so of course they had one at the baby shower they threw for family friend Malika Haqq. Photo booths are a fun way for your guests to document their time at your gathering and for you to make sure you have some pics with all your besties. If you can't rent a full-on booth, though, try passing out a couple of Polaroid cameras instead.
All-White Dress Code
If you want something more upscale than a PJ party, but you still want to help guests figure out what to wear, an all-white theme like Ciara's keeps things simple. It gives attendees a strict parameter for what to wear (which takes the guesswork out for them), and it ensures that all your pics will look super coordinated.
Throwback Theme
Before Serena Williams gave birth to her daughter, Olympia, she had a super fun retro baby shower. The event took place at an old-school-style diner, and all of the guests came in 1950s-inspired outfits. "When you and your crew go so far back," Serena captioned one of the costumed photos from the party.
Halloween Theme

If you're having a fall or winter baby, you could follow Riverdale star Vanessa Morgan's lead and do an all-out Halloween baby shower theme. Who doesn't love a costume party? Bonus points for guests who show up in baby-themed costumes. And if you're inviting moms who have babies already, they can dress them up too. The possibilities are endless.
Book Gift Theme
When Joanna Gaines had a baby shower for her fifth child, she was already set on a lot of the items people usually buy for showers, like clothing and toys. So instead she made a gift theme — everyone could bring a different children's book. She ended up building out a whole little library for her son Crew.
Decorate Bibs

Decorating onesies is already a pretty popular baby shower activity, but Halsey switched things up for her party. Instead, she had her guests decorate bibs with cute sayings, pom-poms, drawings, and more. Now whenever Halsey's baby uses them, the singer will remember her friends coming together to celebrate her child.
Flowers Everywhere
Flowers at a baby shower are kind of a given, but you can take things to the next level by adding a flower wall for people to take photos with. Or you can pretend you're a Kardashian and create a whole flower ceiling. Khloé Kardashian's shower went all out with pink roses everywhere, and it was stunning.
Signs and Balloons
When it comes to decorations, the current trend is elaborate balloon arches and giant light-up signs. That's what Jersey Shore star Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino had at his shower with Lauren Sorrentino, and it's been done by everyone from Bachelor stars to the Duggars. This particular trend may not last forever (remember when mylar balloons were the hot party item?), but if you have a baby shower in the next year or so, you'll probably still be on trend with this kind of decor.
On-Theme Beverage Containers
Whether you're mixing up alcoholic drinks for your guests or making a mocktail for the mom-to-be, the beverages will be so much cuter when served in baby bottles. That's a special touch that Nicky Hilton had at one of her showers, and even Paris Hilton liked the idea. It's supercute, and if you have leftovers, you can recycle them for your own baby — once you deeply sanitize, of course.
Dessert Spread
The Hilton family really knows how to do baby showers right. For Nicky's second shower in 2017, her mom, Kathy, put together a whole table of desserts. Forget a single cake; Nicky had two cakes, several cookie towers, bowls of candy, and more. Imagine this dessert selection at Chrissy's McDonald's-catered shower. Delicious.
Themed Cookies
And if you really wanna take your dessert table to the next level, you could follow Meghan Markle's lead with some baby-themed cookies. Royals don't usually do baby showers, but Meghan went all out for hers. While most of the details stayed private, her makeup artist did share what the cookies looked like — rattles, bibs, and storks.
A Special Cake

It can be hard for only children to adjust to having a new baby in the house, so Tamera Mowry made sure to include a special cake for her son, Aden, at his sister Ariah's baby shower. If you're mom to more than one kiddo, this is a great way to involve your little ones in celebrating their new brother or sister. That way they won't feel quite as jealous.
Treat Yourself
A baby shower is all about the mom-to-be, and she should be pampered in every way possible. For Jessica Simpson, that meant wearing a glittering flower crown to her shower for baby Birdie. For reality star Josie Bates, that meant she wanted a throne to sit in at her party. Whatever the mama wants, she gets.
