It seems like Bode Miller's latest parenting decision has been a rather controversial one. This week, Bode shared a video of his son running hills as a "consequence" after he decided to quit his soccer team, and people have a lot of opinions about what he should have done.

Bode's son quit the soccer team after the first game
In the video, we can see his son running up a hill as his dad follows him in a car.
"After quitting on his soccer team during his first game of the year, I let him run the hill. Enforcing consequences isn’t my favorite part of parenting, but learning from them is important," Bode wrote. "This was about so much more than a game of soccer. It’s about teaching our kids never to quit."
He added, "For those who are concerned, the hill running was his idea. He said he didn’t run during the game. This kid is next level. #prouddad."
Some of his followers weren't impressed with the choice
Bode eventually had to shut down comments on the post, so they have all since disappeared. But according to People, one commenter called his parenting move "insane."
"Kids are their own people that are growing into adulthood. They are not your vessel to fulfill your own personal expectations," they wrote. "As long as they are good people. Raising them this way can cause extreme resentment and serious emotional development issues.”
One person called it "bullying behavior"
And, even more harshly, another tweeted, "Tell me you're abusive without telling me you're abusive." Yikes!
As an Olympic gold medalist in American alpine ski racing, it's clear that Bode takes his athletics seriously — not just for him but for his children, too.

Others thought it was the right move
"I commend you Bode — he was part of a team & others were counting on him, especially during the game. There are consequences in life — we don’t always get what we want," another commenter wrote on his Instagram post, via People. "He may not like it now — but we will learn responsibility."
It's clear that Bode loves his children
He and his wife, Morgan Miller, have a pretty big brood. In total, they're parents to Nash, 7, Easton, 4, Asher, 3, Aksel, 3, Scarlet, 1, and daughter Emeline, who tragically died in an accidental drowning when she was 19 months old. Bode also has two children from a previous relationship: 14-year-old Dace and 9-year-old Nate.
From what we have seen in his other Instagram posts, it looks like these kids are well loved. Sometimes, sticking it out and being a part of the team is worth it, but other times, it's better to walk away. Hopefully his son made the right choice for him!
