Blake Lively Shares Pumping Selfie as She Jokes About How She’s Spending Met Gala Day

New mom Blake Lively spent the evening of the Met Gala like most of us did: at home. The actress, who recently gave birth to a new baby, shared a selfie hilariously highlighting the unglamorous way she took in the hottest night in fashion. This is why Blake remains a social media queen!

She made the announcement that she wouldn't be attending this year's gala during Thursday's reopening of New York City's Tiffany & Co. flagship on Fifth Avenue, according to People. When reporters asked if viewers would get a chance to see her on the red carpet on May 1, she said they would not, before adding, "But I will be watching."

If Blake was watching from home, she was multitasking, because the 35-year-old took to Instagram to share a mirror photo of herself wearing a breast pump. "First Monday in May," she jokingly captioned the picture (in a nod to the Met Gala), which also featured two animated streams of milk that appeared to be pouring from her breasts.

She probably wanted to stick close to her baby

Blake and husband Ryan Reynolds just welcomed their fourth child together โ€” the two are also parents to 8-year-old James, 6-year-old Inez, and 3-year-old Betty โ€” so she probably didn't feel comfortable leaving her little one behind to step out for a night of glitz and glam. We can't say we blame her.

We don't know much about Blake and Ryan's new bundle of joy

The pair made a very low-key birth announcement in February when Blake posted a photo of herself in which she was suspiciously missing her baby bump. Ryan later confirmed the news, but the very private couple has yet to offer up any details about the new baby, including whether they welcomed a boy or girl and what name they chose.

We were sad Blake wasn't at Monday's big event

While we missed getting a chance to see Blake's interpretation of this year's Met Gala theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," she's never disappointed fans in the past with her instantly viral gala looks. But we're glad that she was at home spending some quality time with her family. Hopefully we'll see her on the Met staircase next year!
