Anyone who has kids knows that it's basically impossible to keep them clean all of the time … and apparently, that struggle is also real even for celebrity parents. While chatting with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher shared their bathing habits — both for washing their kids and themselves — and let's just say they're a little "out there."
Everyone was talking about their bathing habits
Dax was insisting that it's not necessary to wash your body with soap in the shower every day — just water is fine, so as to "not be getting rid of the natural oil on your skin."
"I didn't have hot water growing up as a child, so I didn't shower much anyway," Mila admitted.
Mila admitted that she didn't wash her children often when they were babies
Ashton and Mila have two kids: daughter Wyatt Isabelle, 6, and son Dimitri Portwood, 4, and according to their mom, when they were babies, a bath just wasn't part of their daily routine.
"When I had children, I also didn't wash them every day," she told Dax. "I wasn't that parent that bathed my newborns — ever."
Ashton added that even now, baths are rare in their home
"Now, here's the thing: If you can see the dirt on them, clean them. Otherwise, there's no point," Ashton said.
Welp, there's that. Though some kids might not need a bath every day … by the time you see dirt, well, that's definitely a sign that getting clean should be on the agenda.
Dax and wife Kristen Bell seem to be on the same page, though — he said that their daughters, Delta and Lincoln, once got daily baths during their bedtime routines but they stopped as the girls got older.
Ashton also made a confession about his own cleanliness
While he did say that he will "throw some water on my face after a workout to get all the salts out," his daily showers don't include washing his entire body.
"I wash my armpits and my crotch daily, and nothing else ever," he admitted. "I got a bar of Lever 2000 that delivers every time. Nothing else."
Interesting.
To each their own
Everyone has their own standards of clean for themselves and their bodies, so if this is working for Ashton and Mila, that's all that matters. Ashton might want to consider hitting the rest of his body with soap every once in awhile, though … just in case.
