Ashley Graham Shares Candid Breastfeeding Photos to Mark Her Twin Sons’ First Birthday

Everyone's favorite body-positive queen Ashley Graham has done it again. This time, the model and mother of three is winning praise for sharing relatable photos from her first year as a mom to twin sons. Ashley's candid snapshots feature her tandem breastfeeding little Roman and Malachi, and raising awareness along the way.

2022 was a big year for Ashley and her husband, Justin Ervin

The couple kicked off 2023 by looking back and celebrating their first full year as a family of five. Their twins arrived on January 7, 2022 — joining big brother Isaac, who was born in February 2020 — officially making them 1-year-old. Time flies!

Her mom pride was evident on Saturday, when she posted these candid snaps from her breastfeeding journey on her Instagram Story. According to People, which captured the images before they expired, Ashley was reminiscing about her adventures with tandem nursing.

Ashley has been actively trying to raise awareness about tandem nursing

Also known as combo feeding, this type of breastfeeding is popular with twins or babies close in age who need to be fed at the same time. Ashley first discovered the importance of tandem nursing after her twins were born.

While she knew she'd likely face a few more challenges than she did with older son Isaac, Ashley was pretty confident that she'd be able to breeze through nursing her twins as well. But she did have a bit of a learning curve at first.

She opened up to 'People' about her experience

"I thought that I would easily be able to breastfeed without having to think twice about it. I knew that there was going to be a little bit of actual juggling that would have to be implemented because everybody and their mother told me that if I didn't feed the twins at the same time, I was never going to have any time for myself," she told the magazine in September 2022.

"And sure enough, that's exactly what happened. I had to figure out how to do it at the same time."

We still can't believe the twins are already 1

It may have been a rocky road to travel, but Ashley has certainly navigated her first year as a mom of twins with grace. And we imagine she's helped a lot of other mothers and caregivers of twins (or other multiples) along the way, thanks to the open way she talks about tandem nursing, breastfeeding, and formula use. Hopefully she continues to share her motherhood journey — she definitely helps other parents feel seen by being so open.
