In the winter, the weather often is cold and dry, which can really affect your skin. You might notice your hands get incredibly dry, your lips might become chapped more often, and your skin might feel completely dehydrated. Since babies have really sensitive skin, the harsh winter air can impact their skin even more. Here are some ways to combat the frigid temperatures and dry air to keep baby's skin moisturized.
Use Warm Water for Baths

When giving your little one a bath, make sure the water is warm, not hot. Hot water can strip moisture from the skin, so use lukewarm water in baby's bath. If you're very concerned about the temperature, consider buying a bath thermometer.
Use a Rich Moisturizer

Keep your baby's skin hydrated by using a thick, creamy moisturizer, like Baby Dove Rich Moisture Lotion. This lotion is gentle, hypoallergenic, and pH-neutral, which makes it suitable for babies of all ages (even newborns). The lotion soothes the skin to leave it feeling soft and protected.
Keep Baby Hydrated

Your baby's skin can get especially dry if they aren't hydrated. Make sure your baby is getting plenty of fluids, whether that's breast milk or formula. Once your baby is a little older (usually 6 months or so) and your pediatrician gives you the go-ahead, you can also give your baby water to stay hydrated.
Use a Cool Mist Humidifier

To make sure your baby's nursery isn't too dry, use a cool mist humidifier to improve the moisture level in the room. A humidifier can also help reduce congestion if your baby is feeling under the weather.
Dress Baby Appropriately

When you go outside in the winter, make sure your baby is all bundled up. Dress your baby in warm clothes, including a jacket, hat, and mittens. Apply lotion/balm to exposed skin to make sure they're protected from the cold.
