5 Diaper Hacks Parents Shouldn’t Try to Live Without

Parenthood can be… messy. But diapering your baby doesn’t have to be. From getting the most out of a diaper to what to do if a blowout was unavoidable, here are some common diaper dilemmas and a hack for each.

Diaper dilemma: Baby is between diaper sizes and you can't tell which one is the one you need to use

It’s particularly important to get this right at night so baby doesn’t wake from soaking through a too-small diaper. Years of parenting wisdom tells us to always go up a size for overnight to prevent leaks. And did you know the diaper company actually prints the size on the interior tab? You are not alone! It’s an easy way to keep track when baby is in-between and not waste a single diaper.

This all-too-common occurrence has parents scratching their heads. You walk into baby’s room in the morning and all their clothes — and their diaper — are gone.

Short of watching them in the monitor all night, what can you do? Simple! Turn their PJs around so the zipper is in the back. No more unclothed child and no more mess in the crib.

Diaper dilemma: You're not using diapers to their "fullest" potential

How do you diaper a baby? That’s simple. Open the diaper, put baby in, and close it up, right? Wrong! Turns out there’s a little-known way to help prevent blowouts.

Simply pull out the entire skirt of the diaper — that’s what it’s there for.

Ever wonder what those tabs are on the shoulders on baby onesies? Me neither.

But it turns out they have a very specific purpose – if baby’s onesie gets soiled, the last thing you want to do is pull it over their head and get the mess near their face. Instead use the tabes to pull the onesie down, instead of over and keep baby safe and clean. MIND. BLOWN.

Diaper bags get messy – quick. Between loose diapers, packages of broken crackers, wipes, hand sanitizer, and more, it won’t be long before your diaper bag resembles a trash can.

That is, unless you use this simple trick to get it organized. Take an empty box of wipes and fill that with all the essentials – including a pack of wipes themselves. Here’s a tutorial:
