It's wild how much has changed since my first child came into the world almost eight years ago now. At that time, it really felt like the only conversation happening was about the baby and when I would be getting back to work. I feel so grateful that the conversation is changing and that more focus is turning to postpartum and providing support for the mother as she navigates the early months of nurturing the baby and trying to recover. Here are some new mom essentials that I loved having this time around.
Anya Recovery Tonic and Lactation Tea

Both of these saved me. Anya makes it easy to take care of yourself because they have done the legwork developing products that you can trust and that really make a difference in how your body feels and recovers.
Tejari Protein Blends

These were so helpful to have on hand to make smoothies with. They are packed full of clean ingredients and taste absolutely delicious and gave me the boost I needed as a nursing mom. Here is a recipe for an Oatmeal Banana Smoothie that incorporates their Organic Golden Banana powder.
Mamamoods 'Send Self Care' Tumbler

Keeping a tumbler by the bed is so helpful to make sure you are keeping hydrated and nourished while you are trying to recover. I use my Mamamoods tumbler for smoothies in the morning and then tea or iced water throughout the day. I also love using the Yeti lid and straw attachment for the tumbler, I find I drink much more when I have a straw.
Baked by Sha Sha Lactation Cookies

I first discovered @sha_sha_fierce on Instagram and had heard rave reviews from friends about her clean sweet treats. So, when I found out she was making lactation cookies, I immediately ordered a bunch to have on hand postpartum. OMG, they are insane! And, the best part is, she ships and you can keep them in your freezer so you have them on hand whenever you need a little something sweet.
Bodily Everything Set

Bodily is a wonderful new company that is all about postpartum recovery and creating products that can be helpful during that time. Six months later, I am still living in my Everyday Bra and Underwear set. It is all so soft and comfortable and makes breastfeeding super easy.
Mamamoods Breathe Journal

I didn’t do this with my first two kids but this time around, I decided to keep a postpartum journal by my bed to just write down thoughts, things I was feeling, etc. Sort of a way to document how I was doing, something different than just having a baby book where the focus is on everything the baby is doing. I found it unbelievably helpful and cathartic to take a moment each day to just jot a few things down.
Quince Organic Luxe Turkish Robe
I lived in this! Ultimate comfort, easy to breastfeed while wearing, and just made me feel relaxed and in that self care mode. I highly recommend getting a special robe for you to wear once baby arrives.
