7 Fall Fashion Must-Haves for 2014

It’s that time of the year again: The leaves are turning, school is back in session and your closet is screaming for a shift in a cooler direction. I’ve scoured the massive September fashion magazine issues and done my research to put together my list of fall fashion essentials for 2014 to help you start the season on the right foot! With the change in weather, a little neck candy never hurt anyone, and the most chic way to accessorize any good fall outfit is a pretty little scarf. The minimalist look is huge this season, so if you don’t want to add some color to your outfit, just a simple black scarf will add the right amount of interest.

2. Ankle boots

The ankle boot had a huge moment this summer, and it’s here to stay for fall as well. Wear your favorite ankle boots with a pair of cuffed skinny jeans and a utility jacket, and you’re good to go.

3. Liquid leggings/pants

This is a great way to add a rocker vibe to your look. I love pairing leather pants with a feminine top and some heels for a perfectly balanced outfit that screams fall chic.

4. Chunky knits

Knit sweaters of all shapes and sizes are very in this season. Pair a good chunky knit with some straight leg pants and oxford shoes for an effortless look that is perfect for fall.

5. Chambray

One trend that is taking over the runways is the menswear-inspired look. A good tailored button down shirt is the perfect way to include this trend in your everyday outfits. The chambray top borrows from the men and adds denim to your look, which is another popular addition to a fall wardrobe.

6. Anything leopard print

Animal prints are all over the runways, and for good reason. Fall is the perfect time to wear your favorite wild print. Don’t be afraid to mix it with some stripes, too. Pattern mixing is a fun way to liven up your wardrobe and show that you’re fashion forward and not afraid to take risks!

Yes, the “school girl chic” look is huge for fall 2014. So reach into the depths of your closet and pull out that plaid skirt you have lying in there, gathering dust. It’s back this season, and you’re going to want to embrace it! Go all out Gossip Girl with a crisp white oxford shirt and some little black ballet flats.
