Now that the holiday season is here, many babies are about to celebrate their very first Christmas. And when it comes to this particular milestone, an adorable pair of themed PJs is a must. With everything going on during this time of year (along with how hectic being a mom to a baby can be), it's easy to let this tradition fall by the wayside. But there are a lot of reasons why Christmas PJs can be so much fun when babies are involved.

Aside from the fact that matching family Christmas PJs are always cute, even just grabbing a pair for a baby will end up making for some truly adorable photos — especially in a pair that's meant to be worn on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. And fortunately, there are a lot of options out there that moms (and their babies) will love.

Choosing the right Christmas PJs for baby isn't just about picking out your favorite designs — there are also a few factors that are important to consider that have to do with your baby's safety. Be sure to choose tight-fitting pajamas to avoid suffocation risks, and make sure not to choose a pair that may pose any choking hazards. And though flame retardant pajamas were once considered the gold standard, now, it's more about flame resistant fabric, and fortunately, children's sleepwear from size nine months up to size 14 are required to be flame resistant.

"The risk of chemical flame retardants concerns me more than the risk of flammability, mostly because there are so many other measures we can take to safeguard our family from fires, like having our smoke detectors checked regularly," mom Cory Miller told the Washington Post.

Some parents might choose to go with organic fabrics, too, to avoid exposing kids to chemicals that might exist in their PJs, especially if your baby is already deailng with allergies or skin irritation.

"I always tell patients with skin issues or asthma to stay with fabrics that are 100 percent cotton," Dr. Saman Soleymani, medical director from Avecina Medical, told News 4 in an interview..

Dr. Soleymani also goes on to caution about another indicator that clothes could contain harmful chemicals: when something is described as wrinkle-free, non-iron or moisture-wicking. "These kind of chemicals can cause rashes, asthma, fatigue, headaches, blurred vision and the list goes on," he said.
