Reusable cloth diapers are a practical — and money-saving — alternative to disposables and can save parents hundreds of dollars over the cost of disposables. You can supply your baby's lifetime diaper needs for as little as $50 to $100 by buying washable flat or prefolded diapers and covers, explains Bobbi-Jean Palmer, owner of Kelly's Closet in South Paris, Maine and an advocate and supplier of cloth diapers. You can even make your own cloth diapers out of old T-shirts.
In comparison, a month's worth of disposables will cost approximately $72, according to Babycenter. Cloth diapers can be used for multiple children, so the savings will add up if you have more than one little diaper-wearer over time.
