The natural process of teething signals that your baby's incisors, followed by additional teeth, are pushing through his gums. Family dentist Frank Fruce, owner of Advanced Dental Arts in Fulton, New York, notes that a small amount of blood may be present just as a tooth erupts.
“Other than at that point, there should be no bleeding from the gums while your child is teething. You can usually tell when your child's tooth is about to push through his gums by the redness of his cheeks,” Fruce adds.
