Frozen breast milk can be thawed by placing the bottle or bag of breast milk in warm water for a few minutes, says Laurie MacLeod, a certified nurse midwife at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. “You can also thaw frozen breast milk by putting it in the refrigerator for a few hours or placing the bag or bottle under warm running water,” she added. Never heat breast milk in the microwave, however, as it can heat unevenly, resulting in milk that is too hot for your baby.
