In 2010, Sally, mother of three grown children, created Fairy Dust Teaching. Here she shares her passion for a holistic education. Sally believes the true goal of teaching ought to be inspiring lifelong learning and empowering children to take ownership of their learning. In 2011, Sally began providing online courses for parents and educators worldwide. Sally blogs about crafts, literacy, math and the wonder of childhood. She is a National Board Certified Teacher, Waldorf Early Childhood Trained, has received two Funds for Teacher Fellowships, and was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2006.
What was your favorite toy as a child?
My favorite childhood toy was my grandmother’s doll, Poor Pitiful Pearl. My grandmother’s name was Pearl so this doll was no ordinary doll to me. I can still remember her doll trunk, the red scarf wrapped around her head and her sweet blue dress.
