Till she was 10, Kaumudi detested writing but was always to be found with her head in a book. When her family moved to Canada from India, her mother insisted she keep a journal. That's when she fell in love with writing. She trained as a journalist in Bombay, covering hard news and architecture. When she and her husband moved to the U.S. in 1996, she taught herself about food and food history. After writing two cookbooks about the food of her region in India, Kaumudi opened her own catering company and cooking school, Un-Curry, where she teaches people how to cook Indian.
When she isn't cooking, you'll find her with her head in her laptop, writing. But of all the jobs she's had, being a mom is her favorite. She lives in Glendale, Calif., with her teen daughter, Keya, and her other baby, a Tibetan terrier named Ever. She plans her life around Ever's walks and Keya's dance schedule!
Her food memoir is being published in June 2016.
