Karen Kozlowski

From the moment she was
able to toddle into her mother’s closet, Karen Kozlowski was infatuated with
fashion. This obsession dictated a career path that included work as an award
winning Fashion advertising copywriter, three years as the fashion and beauty
editor of Parenting magazine, and most recently a seven-year run as Fashion
Director of Real Simple magazine. For the past two years she has been
freelancing as a fashion stylist, writer, editor and blogger as well as
consulting for burgeoning fashion brands. She lives in New York City with her
photographer husband, Michael Edwards and their nine-year old daughter, Ava,
who has her own ideas about style—ones that don’t always mesh with her
mother’s.

What was your favorite toy growing up?

Barbie dolls—specifically
dressing them. I amassed a large collection of Barbie clothing and was totally
obsessed with those tiny plastic high heels. No surprise.
