What are the social media rules and societal guidelines that come along with celebrating holidays or other family events when you have a famous ex? Do you continue to post and celebrate them when you share a child? Some people tend to think so. With that said, Chris Pratt’s annual post he seems to share every year on Mother’s Day to show his love and appreciation towards his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, seems to give some people a bit of the ick. The reasoning behind this involves his previous marriage to Anna Faris and how she’s also a dedicated mother to their son, Jack.
Chris Pratt shared an Instagram post dedicated to celebrating his wife on Mother’s Day. As usual, it rubbed a few the wrong way.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Chris Pratt took to his Instagram to share a few family photos in celebration of his wife and mother of his two daughters Katherine Schwarzenegger. It all seems fairly routine and nice, especially if you read the caption. Chris wrote, “The center of our universe. We are beyond grateful for you, @katherineschwarzenegger. Happy Mother’s Day!”
Over the years, Chris has felt some heat from online critics who aren’t that thrilled that he often does not acknowledge that he also shares a son, Jack, with actress Anna Faris. The thing that’s a bit different about this year’s post from Chris is that in the second photo, it appears to be Jack (with a cute heart over his face to keep his physical features private) in the front seat of their car with Katherine.
While there are some people in the comments section leaving opinions like this, “Anna Faris is also mother of your child. You’re a POS.” There are some who completely understand that Chris isn’t going to post something in a public manner that celebrates his ex-wife, which may make his current wife uncomfortable. One person wrote, “Y’all are wild saying he should make a post about his ex … like that’s weird.”
It was the same kind of post for Mother’s Day from Chris in 2025.
Cut to last year around this time and Chris was sharing the exact same kind of post for Mother’s Day on Instagram. Now, no one is saying that he shouldn’t fully appreciate and love the mother that his wife is to their two daughters, but perhaps it would be nice for him to acknowledge his son and the devoted mother he has, even if they’re no longer together.
One person in the Instagram comments tends to see things from Anna Faris’ perspective and how she’s likely not waiting on a celebratory Mother’s Day social media post from her ex-husband. She wrote, “[I] don’t need to be complimented by my [ex] for my skills as a mother. I’m sure his [ex] isn’t waiting for him to post about her on IG. I’m sure she has a life – these trolls need to get one too.”
There’s been controversy in the past about the way Chris posts about his children with his current wife versus his son from his first marriage.
Beyond Mother’s Day, this birthday tribute post that Chris shared on Instagram for his wife in 2021 caused a lot of controversy because he spoke out about how Katherine gave him a “gorgeous healthy daughter.”
Some people in the Reddit comments took that as a direct dig towards Anna Faris and their son, as Jack has suffered from some health issues over the years. Someone in the Reddit comments shared their thoughts. “The guy is a waste. Totally inappropriate comment about healthy kid when his adorable son battles life long medical issues,” they wrote.
Others were quick to jump to his defense and state that a father can be happy that he has a healthy and happy child. One person shared, “This is a huge over reaction. You should be happy that your baby is healthy. That doesn’t mean that you’re first kid isn’t good enough.” A totally valid point.
There’s also been some chatter online about the way Katherine doesn’t always acknowledge Chris’ son Jack publicly on social media. For instance, in this Reddit thread, there’s discussion about one of her Father’s Day posts dedicated to Chris and he’s wearing a shirt that says ‘Girl Dad’ on it. Well, that’s all fine and good, but he also has a son.
One person in the Reddit thread said, “First photo Katherine posts a photo of him wearing a “Girl dad” shirt, and although the intention might not have been malicious, mostly it makes it sound as if he’s only a girl dad.”
Is everyone reading a bit too much into things here or has he purposely left his old life behind?
