Police were called to Shaq's home around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday
According to ABC News, officers from the Tampa Police Department responded to a call about a child falling into a pool at Shaq's residence. Though lifesaving measures were taken when his daughter, Arrayah, was taken to a local hospital, she was pronounced dead.
Arrayah had recently celebrated her second birthday in April.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released a statement about the incident
"Today's tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna, and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time," the statement that the organization shared on Instagram said. "While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah."
The drowning is considered "purely accidental" at this point

In a statement, the Tampa Police Department said that the drowning has so far been ruled accidental, though an investigation is ongoing.
"It is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident," they said.

Fellow Buccaneers player Tom Brady took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo of Shaq and his family that had been taken in their home, writing, "The Bradys love you."
Shaq and Jordanna have three other children — Shaquil Jr., Braylon, and Aaliyah.
So far, Shaq and Jordanna haven't shared any statements of their own
They have both stayed quiet on social media since the incident and haven't released any official responses to the news just yet.
Our thoughts are with their family at this incredibly difficult time. We hope they have plenty of privacy and space as they cope with the loss of their daughter.
