Royal Expert Says Kate Middleton’s Parenting Is Increasingly Influenced by Princess Diana

It's heartbreaking that Princess Diana died before her oldest son ever had the chance to introduce her to his future wife, but something tells us she'd approve of the way Kate Middleton is parenting her kids. In fact, according to one royal expert, the way Kate parents becomes more influenced by Diana as the years go on.

Like Diana, Kate is good at keeping her cool in public

Royal etiquette expert Myka Meier told Us Weekly that Kate has likely learned from Diana's example of staying calm with her kids in public, even when the situation gets a bit stressful.

"For instance, Princess Diana, there [was] so much stress and so much pressure all the time. And I think we’re seeing the Duchess of Cambridge follow that same path of keeping her calm, even if maybe behind closed doors [she] doesn’t feel like that," Meier told the outlet. "But [Kate] does an excellent job of not ever letting onto anything but graciousness. I think that’s something she took from Princess Diana’s book, for sure."

She also believes Kate is "training" her children herself

As George, Charlotte, and Louis continue to get older, Meier believes Kate is the one teaching them all of the royal rules they need to know.

"The Duchess of Cambridge is actually teaching them herself," Meier said. "So kind of how it works internally is as they’re preparing to go meet somebody or get off an airplane, then really the Duchess has been doing a wonderful job of teaching the children."

She explains things to them in terms they can understand

"What I love is that it doesn’t seem like there’s any pressure to be something they’re not," Meier added. "These are just beautiful little children and they’re showing respect and doing it in the best way that the Duchess and the Duke have known to teach them really."

There's a lot of pressure on these little ones' shoulders with the world watching, but Kate is the perfect person to get them through it.

She also had complimentary words for Kate's parenting of Louis

Prince Louis' behavior at the Platinum Jubilee last month made headlines, and people criticized Kate's parenting at the same time. But as far as Meier is concerned, Kate did a great job.

"Any parent or person who has a little one in their lives knows how difficult it can be," she said. "She kept her cool and it made her even more relatable and lovable than ever. She handled him. She corrected him, but yet she didn’t cover his mouth. She didn’t do anything that would’ve been eyebrow-raising. She really handled it so graciously and just like a pro."

If only Diana and Kate had the chance to meet

They both have had the unique job of preparing their sons to be the future king of England, all the while having their parenting judged on the world stage — that certainly can't be easy.

But from what we know of the late Princess of Wales, Diana would be proud.
